About Merit, REALTORS®, Inc. and Sheri Borth

Sheridan Borth, locally known as just Sheri, was born in Texas and raised in Oklahoma (the best of both worlds).  She got her first taste for sales as a Campfire Girl.  She was told whoever sold the most candy would go to camp.  Her mother was editor of a newspaper, and her father owned a department store.  After school one afternoon she got the candy to sell and sold until late that evening when one of her customers called her parents around 10:00 p.m.  It seems she was still out selling the candy.  And, she DID go to camp that summer.

When she was married, her husband’s position took her all over the world.  They made 20 moves in 17 years.  At the time she didn’t feel any of this moving around would be advantageous to her until she got in to real estate sales.  Having moved around so much instills in her thinking that she can help any client adjust to life in a new home.  During all these moves she was the mother for two children and now also has three grand children.

She and her former husband decided to buy investment property, and this move led to her obtaining a real estate license.  Since that time, she hasn’t stopped dealing in real estate sales – residential and commercial, as well as property management.  Sheri started her true real estate career when working for a custom builder and then worked for a large real estate company.  She had always decided that at some time of her life she would like to own her real estate company.  And she did just that.  In February of 1991, she bought Merit, REALTORS®, Inc.

One of Sheri’s commercial listings was the property where Kentucky Fried Chicken now has a store on FM 1382 (Belt Line Rd).  She had contacted KFC headquarters and various other individuals, but no one saw the potential.  KFC felt there were not enough rooftops in Cedar Hill and didn’t want to open a store.  Another entrepreneur recognized the potential and growth and eventually bought the land from Sheri.

Not only is Sheri a seasoned REALTOR® of 30 years, serving the Best Southwest community, she has always looked forward to helping new friends.  She began her community and civic involvement in 1976 when she moved to this part of Dallas County.  In the early 1980s she joined chambers of commerce in the Best Southwest area and served on and chaired many committees.  She also was Chairman of the Cedar Hill Chamber of Commerce.  Sheri served on the Best Southwest Board for two terms.

In the real estate world Sheri was representative for MLS for the Great Dallas Association of Realtors.  She was the Program Chairman and the Breakfast Chairman for the area monthly meetings of the local REALTOR® association.

She recently was one of five real estate brokers from across the State of Texas to serve on an Advisory Panel for the Texas Real Estate Commission.

For two terms, Sheri headed up Operation Clean Sweep in the Best Southwest area.  She is now the President of Keep Cedar Hill Beautiful and has been for the past five years.  She serves on the Main Street Advisory Board for Cedar Hill.  She continues to stay involved with the community and is also Board President for the HOA in the area in which she lives.  Sheri was the first woman President for the Cedar Hill Lions Club and has continued to serve in various roles for the club.  She also has been a supporter of Country Day on the Hill.

She has often said, “I will only quit selling real estate when it stops being fun!”
